Brother testifies in brother’s murder case

WARREN — In what may be a preview of the capital murder trial of Randall M. Thomas set for January, Thomas’ older brother Christopher gave a videotaped deposition Wednesday that will be used if the case proceeds to the death-penalty phase.

“I don’t believe my brother should be put to death. I think he needs help, not to be put to death,” Christopher Thomas, 22, said from the witness stand.

Christopher Thomas is a sergeant in the Army who is on leave from his current tour of duty in Baghdad, Iraq. He returns to Iraq Monday and will be there in January when his brother’s trial is set to begin, making it impossible for him to testify.
