“Pushing Daisies” (8 p.m., ABC): In what is being hailed as the best new drama of the fall, a pie maker with the gift of bringing back the dead makes extra cash by explaining unsolved deaths. But there’s a catch: another touch and they are dead forever.

“The Sarah Silverman Program” (10:30 p.m., Comedy Central): If the network sitcoms don’t thrill you (and we feel your pain) — you might want to try something totally offbeat and irreverent like “The Sarah Silverman Program,” which launches its second season. Of course, if you happened to catch her derisive act on MTV’s “Music Video Awards,” you might want nothing to do with Silverman. In tonight’s episode, Sarah protests at the place where her sister works until she realizes it’s an abortion clinic.

“Better Half” (11 p.m., Bravo): A new spin on job-swapping pits two-member teams against each other for a $20,000 cash prize. Each week, two professionals — whether chefs, comics or hairstylists — each coach a novice on the tricks of the pro’s job. Then the two rookies face off. Three judges, experts in their fields, will determine how well the newbies have mastered their new roles. Comedian Susie Essman hosts.
