Groups seek business attire for women

YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown State University Women’s Club will help the Dress for Success organization gather professional-style clothing for women who need some assistance in that area.

The club and Dress for Success are holding a fall clothing drive from at 7:30 to 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today and Wednesday in Room 2067 of Kilcawley Center at YSU.

Dress for Success is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting the economic independence of women by providing professional attire.

Items that will be accepted for donation include professional suits, blouses, blazers and shoes. Clothing should be contemporary, clean and on hangers. Tax-exempt forms/receipts will be available for each donor.

Dress for Success was founded in New York in 1997 and has served more than 300,000 women around the world. A Warren-Youngstown affiliate operates out of Warren.

The organization provides disadvantaged women with one suit before a job interview and additional items once a job is attained. The organization also offers employment-retention and career-building programs.
