Robbery cases sent to grand jury

AUSTINTOWN — Two men who are charged in the robberies of two pizza delivery drivers had their cases sent to the Mahoning County grand jury.

Marc Haney, 20, of Kerrybrook Drive, and Matthew Sarra, 22, of Boardman are both charged with two counts of aggravated robbery. Their cases were bound over at preliminary hearings in Mahoning County Court here Wednesday.

They remained in Mahoning County Jail on Thursday. Bond is set at $75,000 for both of them.

Both of the robberies occurred at different addresses on Woodhurst Drive. The first was Nov. 11, when two men robbed a Pizza Hut delivery driver of $130. He had been sent to an empty townhouse.

The second was around 11 p.m. Sunday, when two men robbed a Papa John’s pizza delivery driver. But this time, police saw the robbery in progress as they were monitoring a suspected drug house in the area, a police report says. They caught the men, later identified as Haney and Sarra, the report says.

An Austintown detective said the two confessed to the earlier robbery after their arrests Sunday.
