FEED OUR VALLEY Drop-off sites


WFMJ Channel 21 personalities will be at several drop-off sites to accept nonperishable food donations for its Feed Our Valley campaign, which runs through Dec. 12. Sites are:

Saturday: Noon to 3 p.m., Super Kmart, state Route 46, Niles. Bob Black, Mark Koontz, Dana Balash and Susan DeLeo.

Dec. 7: Noon to 3 p.m., Village Plaza Sparkle, Columbiana. Black, Koontz, Balash.

Dec. 7: 4 to 7 p.m., Cornersburg Sparkle, Youngstown. Scott Schneider, Laurie Lehosky, Mark Monstrola and Mike Case.

Dec. 15: Noon to 3 p.m., Shops at Boardman Park. Schneider, Lehosky , Monstrola and Case.

Foods most needed by Second Harvest include canned vegetables, tuna fish, canned meats, instant mashed potatoes, boxed stuffing and peanut butter.

Holiday Food Drive: 101.9 JAMZ, Save-A-Lot Stores and the Nemenz Ffamily have teamed up to collect food this holiday season. Nonperishable food items may be dropped off at the following Save-A-Lot locations: 3131 Center Road, Youngstown; 3551 Belmont Ave., Youngstown; 1715 S. Raccoon Road, Youngstown; and 2725 South Ave., Youngstown.

Steak ‘n Shake: Through Dec. 24, for every $5 worth of gift cards purchased at Steak ‘n Shake restaurants, Steak ‘n Shake will donate one Steakburger patty to Second Harvest Food Bank. Steak ‘n Shake locations include: 6786 Applewood Blvd., Boardman; 5555 Youngstown-Warren Road, Niles.

Sears Food Drive: Through Dec. 31, Sears in the Skyview Plaza in East Liverpool is collecting food to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank.

Goldstein’s Furniture: Through Monday, a donation of five nonperishable food items will result in $100 off the donor’s purchase: Locations are: 836 Youngstown-Warren Road, Niles; 300 Boardman-Poland Road, Boardman; Goldstein’s Furniture Outlet, 3615 Boardman-Canfield Road, Boardman; Ashley Home Store, 340 Boardman-Poland Road Boardman.

Northeast Ohio Adoption Services and the Ice Zone have teamed up to collect 6,000 cans of food, which will represent the 6,000 children that are waiting to be adopted in the state of Ohio. Nonperishable food items may be dropped off at: Northeast Ohio Adoption Services, 5000 E. Market St., Suite 26, Warren; and the Ice Zone, 360 McClurg Road, Boardman.

Fellows Riverside Gardens in Mill Creek Park will accept nonperishable food items during its annual Gardens by Candlelight event Dec. 9, from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
