No. 2 Connecticut 80, BYU 34

HARTFORD, Conn. — Freshman Maya Moore scored 17 points to become the first Connecticut player to hit double figures in each of her first six starts. Moore, who played just 15 minutes, hit her first four shots as Connecticut (6-0) ran out to a 23-0 lead and was never challenged. The Huskies pressed early, holding the Cougars (3-3) scoreless until Mallary Gillespie-Carling hit a short jumper almost 10 minutes into the game. BYU hit just 4 of 25 shots in the first half, and trailed 42-11 at intermission. Shawnee Slade led BYU with 10 points.

No. 4 North Carolina 90, Purdue 72

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Rashanda McCants scored 28 points to help North Carolina easily hand Purdue its fourth straight loss. Cetera DeGraffenreid added 17 points and Erlana Larkins scored 14 before fouling out on a technical with 6:51 to play. LaToya Pringle had 10 points and five blocks for North Carolina (9-0). Lakisha Freeman led Purdue (2-4) with 23 points. Natasha Bogdanova had 17.

No. 7 Georgia 69, Oakland 59

ATHENS, Ga. — Tasha Humphrey scored all 19 of her points in the second half to lead No. 8 Georgia in a come-from-behind win. Humphrey, who had 11 rebounds, was one of three Georgia players with a double-double. Angel Robinson had 15 points and 12 rebounds, and Megan Darrah had 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Bulldogs (7-0).

Jessica Pike led Oakland (3-2) with 23 points.

No. 8 LSU 77, Houston 46

HOUSTON — Sylvia Fowles had 19 points, seven rebounds and three blocks, and LSU won in coach Van Chancellor’s return to the city where he led the WNBA’s Comets for 10 seasons. Quianna Chaney and Ashley Thomas scored 11 points apiece for the Tigers (5-2), who scored 29 points off 25 turnovers and held the Cougars to 33 percent shooting (18-of-54). Chancellor, hired by LSU in April to replace Pokey Chatman, got an easy victory in his 600th college game. He went 439-154 in 19 seasons at Mississippi between 1978-97. Chancellor led the Comets to the WNBA’s first four league championships. He won 211 games, a league record, before taking the LSU job. Brittney Scott scored 11 and Twiggy McIntyre had eight points and six assists for the Cougars (2-6), who’ve lost six of their last seven games.

No. 20 Michigan St. 68, Clemson 51

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Allyssa DeHaan had a season-high 26 points and 13 rebounds to lead Michigan State over Clemson in the inaugural Big Ten-ACC Women’s Basketball Challenge. DeHaan, a 6-foot-9 sophomore center, was 11-for-19 from the field and hit a wide variety of shots en route to her first double-double this season. She also had four blocked shots. Reserve Lauren Aitch had 16 points for the Spartans (6-1), winners of four in a row. April Parker had 13 points and D’Lesha Lloyd added 10 for the Tigers (4-3).

No. 24 Texas 76, Texas-Arlington 60

AUSTIN, Texas — Brittainey Raven had 16 points and a career-high nine rebounds for Texas. Earnesia Williams finished with 11 points and tied a career high with eight rebounds. Ashley Lindsey scored 14 points and Carla Cortijo had seven assists and 12 points. Tamara Simmons led UTA with 11 points.
