COLD WEATHER | Emergency shelter

Homeless individuals and/or families often sleep in their vehicles, abandoned buildings, doorways or anywhere they can get out of the cold. The Cold Weather Emergency Shelter Program is a coordinated effort among community organizations to provide shelter to homeless people during the winter months, from today to March 31.

The goal is that no one freezes to death because of not having a suitable place to sleep.

Organizations providing funding for the program: Catholic Charities, City of Youngstown, Frances Schermer Charitible Trust, Help Hotline Crisis Center, Jewish Foundation, Mahoning County Mental Health Board, Mahoning County Alcohol & Drug Addiction Service Board, St. Elizabeth, and the Youngstown/Mahoning Valley United Way.

Organizations providing other support for the program: Catholic Charities Regional Agency, Community Legal Aid Services, Greater Youngstown Point, Independent Radio Taxi, Mahoning County Homeless Continuum of Care, Mahoning County Homeless Coalition, Meridian Services, Neil Kennedy Recovery Center, Turning Point Counseling Center, and the Youngstown Police Department.
