WARREN — The Western Reserve Modular Railroad Club model train village is up and running at the National Packard Museum, 1899 Mahoning Ave. N.W. The 35-foot-by-20-foot exhibit features running trains and scenically resembles the Mahoning Valley area. It will be on display until Christmas. While the exhibit is available for viewing everyday the museum is open, the trains will only be running on Saturdays and Sundays, said Richard Ulrich, president of the club. The exhibit is in conjunction with a railroad exhibit that is also on display at the museum, which includes photos and artifacts of the railroads of the Mahoning Valley. The museum is open from noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. Admission to the museum is $5 ($3 for seniors and children; free for children under 7). Variety show raises
funds for scholarships

MINERAL RIDGE — The Mineral High School annual Frosty Frolics variety show will be 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the high school auditorium. Admission is $5. The show is sponsored every year by the high school scholarship committee. The director is art teacher Pam Plesea. The show, put on by Mineral Ridge High School students, raises funds for the scholarship committee. High school principal Lou Lowery said the committee awards $1,000 scholarships every year to all valedictorians. The salutatorian receives $800, and the remainder of the top 10 students receive $500 each.

Program offers tips
on art of entertaining

WARREN — Entertaining Is an Art, a special program that offers tips for throwing a holiday party, will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at Trumbull Art Gallery, 196-98 E. Market St. The program will include advice on etiquette and selecting the right wines, and a special holiday food presentation by the chefs at the Blue Iris Café. A table setting exhibit and contest, which will be judged, will also be held. Tickets are $10 and can be reserved by calling TAG at (330) 395-4876.

Oakland book fair

BOARDMAN — Today is the Oakland Center for the Arts book fair at Barnes and Noble in the Shops at Boardman Park. The store will earmark a portion of all sales to the Oakland if the buyer requests it at time of purchase. The Oakland will present a preview of its upcoming production of “Season’s Greetings” at 7 p.m. tonight at the store.

exhibition is extended

YOUNGSTOWN — Art Youngstown’s inaugural exhibition will have extended gallery hours from noon to 8 Saturday. The exhibition is at 25 W. Federal St., Downtown, next to Silver’s Vogue Shop. It features works by local artists.
