The ’60s may be over, but Poobah continues to deliver psychedelic rock like there’s no tomorrow. The band, headed by Youngstown native Jim Gustafson, will be at Cedar’s Lounge, 23 N. Hazel St., for a 10:30 p.m. show. Call (330) 743-6560.

The holiday season begins in Warren with the opening of the Courthouse Square ice rink, which will be open for six weeks. A tree lighting and caroling will mark the event. Santa will arrive on a firetruck at 5 and stay until 8. Each child will receive a picture with Santa, a gift bag, a gift from Thom Duma Jewelers and a cookie from Blue Iris Cafe. The Harding High School choirs will sing. Admission to the rink will be $5, which includes skate rental. Group rates and free lessons are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 15 and 29. Jodi Benson, the voice of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid,” along with dancers from Ballet Western Reserve, Kenny Eldridge and the Jesus Celebration Singers, pupils from West and Taft elementary schools in Youngstown and Easy Street Productions’ Little Rascals, will join the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra for a Holiday Extravaganza concert. The W.D. Packard Concert Band will give its annual Christmas concert at 2 p.m. at Packard Music Hall in Warren. Dancers from area studios are part of the program, and Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will hand out treats to children.

The annual Carols and Cocoa and Dana holiday concert is Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Stambaugh Auditorium. Seasonal favorites will be performed in the ballroom by Dana ensembles and choruses, followed by “Christmas Cantata,” a holiday concert by the Dana Brass Ensemble and the Dana Symphonic Choir, in the main hall. Choral groups from Poland and Boardman high schools will also sing.
