Constructed the 7th District Court of Appeals building, just east of Hazel Street, for about $3.4 million. It opened in March 2006. Three buildings were demolished at the court location.
Demolished five buildings just west of the Youngstown Business Incubator in November 2006 and is building the Taft Technology Center at that location. The center will house high-tech companies. The $5.75 million project is about 30 percent to 40 percent complete and on schedule to be finished by March 15, 2008.
Finalized a deal in September to sell the John R. Davis Building, just east of the Downtown Draught House, to the Sweet Jenny Land Co. The company is spending about $300,00 to improve the building. The firm plans to operate Ronald C. Faniro Architects Inc. on the second floor, renovate the third floor into living-working quarters for one of the owners, and lease the first floor for a cafe, restaurant or retail business. The project is expected to be finished by March 2008.
Moving ahead with plans to turn the Semple Building, just east of Home Savings and Loan, into a high-tech facility and to demolish the Armed Forces Building and the State Theatre, near the corner of Hazel Street. The CIC wants to save the theater’s façade. The CIC is using a $2.75 million state grant for the work. The project is to be done by the end of 2008. The CIC also wants to obtain state and/or federal funds to renovate the Wells Building on the corner of Hazel.
