Youth concert band to perform

YOUNGSTOWN — The Henry H. Stambaugh Youth Concert Band will present its annual winter concert at 7:30 tonight in Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave. Admission is free.

The band consists of students from Northeast Ohio and western Pennsylvania. Membership is by audition and is open to high school students.

The concert will feature the music of Peter Tchaikovsky, Vasilij Agapkin, Pavel Tschesnokoff and Eric Whitacre. The finale from Symphony in G Minor by Vasily Kalinnikov will showcase the Youth Band Alumni and Friends Brass Choir. Conductors for the concert are Dr. Christopher Heidenreich, associate director of bands at Youngstown State University, and Dr. Steven L. Gage, director of bands at YSU.
