Schiffauer, Moore lead Spartans past Mooney


Brittney Taylor sparked East past Warren Harding.

BOARDMAN — Courtney Schiffauer had 21 points and nine assists while Darryce Moore contributed 17 points and eight rebounds to pace the Boardman High girls basketball team to a 72-32 victory over Cardinal Mooney on Monday.

Emily Abraham added 10 points and Katie Fiffick five steals and four points for the Spartans (2-0).

Edna Robinson had 11 points and Sarah Pelini 10 to lead Mooney (1-1).

East 54, Warren Harding 42

WARREN — Brittney Taylor scored 24 points and Brianna Dawson to spark East (1-2).

Kamela Bender hit 13 points and Aundrea Baldridge 12 to lead Harding (1-2).

Liberty 63, Fitch 55

AUSTINTOWN — Melissa Dykes and C.C. Merriweather each scored 16 points to lead Liberty, which outscored Fitch 21-10 in the fourth quarter to pull away.

Britany Armour added 15 points for the Leopards (1-1).

Kayla Hanuschak scored 13 points and Sammie Rovnak added 11 to lead the Falcons (0-1).

Maplewood 49, Lakeview 33

CORTLAND — Maplewood (4-0) kept its unbeaten streak going as it rushed out to a 13-4 lead in the first quarter and was in command 37-26 after three periods.

Kristen Schwartz took scoring honors for the Rockets with 25 points and Leah Dean chipped in with 11.

Joanna Novotny led the Bulldogs (1-1) with 21 points and she had two assists. Emily Malmisur had seven rebounds and two steals.

McDonald 61, Southington 30

SOUTHINGTON — Emily Dolsak scored 18 points and dished out seven assists to lead McDonald, which took a 32-10 halftime lead.

Joh’Vonnie Mosely added 15 points and 13 rebounds and Lindsay Repp had 13 points for the Blue Devils (3-0).

LaBrae 40, Bristol 39

BRISTOLVILLE — Angelica Pugh had 17 points, two assists and five steals to lead LaBrae, which survived a fourth quarter scare.

Courtney Aldridge added 10 points and 13 rebounds for the Vikings (1-2).

Alyssa Giesy had 11 points, four rebounds and two assists to lead Bristol (1-1).

Youngstown Christian 52, Southern 42

SALINEVILLE — Kristi Cooper scored 16 points and had nine steals while Vickie Bankhead had 13 points and 12 rebounds to lead Youngstown Christian (1-2).

Emily Smith registered 18 points to pace Southern (0-1).

Jackson-Milton 39, Girard 29

GIRARD — Alyssa Chine scored 20 points and Jillian Adams added 10 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Bluejays.

Emily Smerchansky had 12 points and Nicole Mroschak added 10 rebounds for Girard (0-3).

Lisbon 64, Wellsville 52

WELLSVILLE — Emily Smith scored 28 points and had six steals and four assists to lead Lisbon (2-0).

Megan Reynolds chipped in with 17 points while Erica Snoddy had six points and four steals for the Blue Devils.

P.J. Williams had 13 points while Marie Keller had 10 points and 13 rebounds and Lindsey Koontz nine points and eight rebounds for Wellsville (0-3).

Crestview 64 , Newton Falls 52

EAST FAIRFIELD — Chelsea Bowker came up with 27 points, seven steals and five assists to lead Crestview (2-1).

Haley Graham added 11 points, Hillary Phillis 10 and Tess Reash nine to aid the Rebels.

Kelsey McGregor scored 24 points and Jaci Dach 15 to spark Newton Falls (1-1).

Chaney 47, Mineral Ridge 20

YOUNGSTOWN — Kerra Clark, Clenisha Pless, Mardinde North and Whitli Sanders each scored eight points to lead Chaney.

Springfield 44, Poland 40

POLAND — The Tigers (2-0) outscored the Bulldogs (0-2) 12-8 in the final period to prevail.

Rachel Kennedy paced the Tigers with 13 points and Carrie Ritzler chipped in with 10. Michele Benson led the Bulldogs with nine points.

South Range 44, Hubbard 34

HUBBARD — Patty Schuster and Caitlin Carter scored 11 points apiece and Autumn Carter added nine for the Raiders (3-0).

Abbie DeLuco had 17 points and Cara Julian 13 for Hubbard (0-2).

United 56, Warren JFK 47

HANOVERTON — Maggie Sell poured in 26 points, Laure Rockhold added 11 and Maggie Miller for the unbeaten Golden Eagles (2-0).

Paige Klaric and Marissa Nocera scored 13 pointa apiece for the Eagles (0-2). Carolyn Averback grabbed 10 rebounds.

Niles 38, Champion 33

NILES — Nina Gabrelcik sparked Niles (2-0) with 13 points. Megan McDermott and Allie Moss each had eight.

Erika Stevens paced the Golden Flashes with 21 points.

Howland 65, East Liverpool 33

EAST LIVERPOOL — Alexa Williams, Kelly Barzak and Allie Airhart scored 17, 16 and 14 points respectively for Howland. Brittany Pomaselli scored 16 for the Potters.
