Cement truck accident closes state Route 170

POLAND — A cement truck overturned on state Route 170 near Western Reserve Road, closing the highway for most of this afternoon and into the late evening.

According to officials from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the truck swerved to avoid traffic at about 1 p.m., hitting a stop sign and a utility pole before dumping its contents and fuel onto the roadway.

Local safety and Haz-Mat crews were still cleaning the accident scene after 7 p.m., according to the Western Reserve Joint Fire District, which serves the village and township.

The truck driver was transported to St. Elizabeth Health Center with minor injuries. His name was unavailable at press time.
