Husband held in slaying in Niles

NILES — A normally quiet residential neighborhood near the Eastwood Mall was disrupted late Saturday by the shooting death of a 29-year-old woman.

Police found Angela S. Leet of 1509 Difford Drive shot multiple times on the lawn next to the driveway. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her husband, Daniel A. Leet, also 29, and also of the Difford Drive address, was taken into custody by Niles police in the incident and awaits formal charges Monday in Niles Municipal Court.

Police responded to the address at 10:14 p.m. when they were advised of a man with a gun and possible shots fired in the driveway. That’s when they found the woman and took her husband into custody.

Trumbull County court records indicate the couple applied for a marriage license in February 2007 while living at the Difford Drive address.

The death is the third homicide of the year for Niles. There was one homicide in the city in 2006.
