Some events planned in western Pennsylvania in 2008 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the naming of Pittsburgh:

May 11-18: Pittsburgh’s 250th VisitPittsburgh National Tourism Week.

June 24-29: The Tour of Pennsylvania bike ride begins in Philadelphia and ends in Pittsburgh.

Aug. 2: Pittsburgh 250’s Reunion Weekend.

Oct. 4: The Pittsburgh 250 and PNC Black & Gold Bike Ride on the Great Allegheny Trail.

Oct. 9-26: The Cultural District hosts the Pittsburgh 250 “Festival of Firsts.”

Nov. 25: 250th anniversary of Pittsburgh’s founding.
