Horticulture students to sell holiday items
CANFIELD — The horticulture students at the Mahoning County Career & Technical Center are ready to show off the fruits of their labor.
They’ve been trimming poinsettias, designing wreaths and centerpieces and decorating the horticulture floral shop, all in anticipation of the annual holiday open house beginning Monday.
The doors to the greenhouses and gift shop will be open to the public on each school day from 9 a.m. to noon until Dec. 21.
Many items will be available for immediate purchase but patrons may also place a special order to be picked up at a later date. Poinsettias in three sizes, wall hangings and table-top designs in silk, made-to-order fresh evergreen wreaths and arrangements, gifts and pine roping are all on the list.
Everything was designed by the horticulture students, who study floriculture and greenhouse management in their first year and landscape design, nursery and lawn care in their second year.
The school is located at 7300 N. Palmyra Road.
