Police probe 2 shootings that injure men

YOUNGSTOWN — Police are investigating two separate shootings in which pedestrians were injured.

Police said a 21-year-old man walking on the 300 block of East Boston Street at 4 p.m. Wednesday was talking on his cellular telephone when felt a pain in his left heel. Police said he continued walking, but looked down and saw blood. Examining his shoe, he found a small hole. Police said he sought medical treatment and doctors discovered a bullet in his heel. The man says he heard nothing because he was on the phone.

About 20 minutes later, a 20-year-old man walking on the 500 block of West Warren Avenue told police he heard a shot coming from a passing car. The man fell to the ground and realized he was shot. Police said the man used his cell phone to call a relative, who took him to the hospital. Doctors said the man had a bullet wound to his right leg, according to police. The victim told police he did not know who shot him and has no feuds with anyone.
