Harding cruises to a 71-33 victory over Champion


WARREN — The Warren Harding High girls basketball team rushed out to a 18-6 lead in the first quarter then cruised a 71-33 victory over Champion in the Raiders’ gymnasium.

The Raiders (1-1) dominated from start to finish in handing the Golden Flashes (0-1) their opening game loss.

Kamela Bender paced the Raiders’ balanced scoring attack with 17 points and she had five assists. Jasmine Kirkland chipped in with 14 points, Jahmarra Warfield added 11 and Kourtney Williams finished with 10. Autumn Hall pulled down 12 rebounds.

Erica Stevens sparked the Golden Flashes with nine points. Heather Beachy added six.

NORTH JACKSON — The Red Devils’ defense limited the Bluejays (0-2) to 10 points in the first half in building a 19-10 lead. At the end of the third quarter, Lordstown (1-0) was out in front, 32-16.

Brianna Blodgett paced the Red Devils with 12 points and she pulled down 15 rebounds. Lindsey Harrison added 10 points. Heather Wickline had six steals.

Alyssa Chimes paced the Bluejays with 12 points and she grabbed five rebounds.
