Tuesday’s other games

Lakers 134, Pacers 114

INDIANAPOLIS — Kobe Bryant scored 32 points, and the short-handed Lakers beat the Pacers for their fourth straight win. Jordan Farmar had a career-high 18 points, Andrew Bynum added 17 points and 10 rebounds and the Lakers rolled to a season-high point total. Los Angeles acquired forward Trevor Ariza from the Orlando Magic for forward Brian Cook and swingman Maurice Evans earlier in the day. Ariza hadn’t joined the Lakers by the opening tip. Shawne Williams led the Pacers (4-7) with a career-high 24 points, and Jamaal Tinsley added 10 points and 10 assists. It was Indiana’s worst home defeat since a 24-point loss to New Jersey on March 4, 2001. The Lakers (7-3) have won their past three games by a combined 60 points. Eight Lakers scored in double figures for first time since Nov. 26, 2003. Los Angeles shot 61 percent to lead 71-63 at halftime. Bryant scored his average, 26 points, before the break. He made five of seven 3-pointers in the first half, often leaving his arm in the air well after his follow-through. Bynum had three powerful dunks before halftime. Danny Granger tried to get the Pacers back in the game. He cut the Lakers’ lead to 87-74 with a layup in the third quarter. He then blocked Bryant’s shot against the glass at the other end, and converted another layup to get Indiana within 11. The Lakers quickly recovered and led 104-90 heading into the fourth quarter. They opened the final period with a 12-0 run.

Warriors 108, Knicks 82

NEW YORK — Baron Davis would have been too good no matter who the Knicks started at point guard. Davis had 31 points, seven assists and six rebounds, and the Golden State Warriors ruined Stephon Marbury’s return to the lineup, sending New York to its seventh straight loss. Stephen Jackson added 23 points for the resurgent Warriors, who have won three straight after an 0-6 start. Jackson missed all of those losses while serving a seven-game NBA suspension, but Golden State is clearly a different team with its captain on the floor. Marbury scored 18 points, but the Knicks were never in the game in the second half and were booed often over the final three quarters. So was coach Isiah Thomas, who saw no results from his decision to demote Marbury last week and heard “Fire Isiah!” cries on a few occasions during the game.

Spurs 95, Hawks 83

ATLANTA — Tony Parker scored 17 of his 31 points in the second quarter and added nine assists while Manu Ginobili scored 19 points to lead the San Antonio Spurs. San Antonio, which has won six of seven, took an 83-65 lead after three periods, leading by 24 on several occasions, the last at 83-59 on a free throw by Ginobili. The Hawks, who have lost three in a row, went on a 14-2 run to get within 85-75 with 6:45 left on a Joe Johnson basket but never got closer. The Spurs got baskets by Michael Finley and Parker for an 89-75 lead, ending a 6-minute drought in which they scored only one basket. Atlanta got within 10 points again at 91-81 on a basket by Marvin Williams with 3:41 left but San Antonio built it to 95-81 on a pair of free throws by Tim Duncan and a basket by Ginobili with 2:23 left. Johnson led the Hawks with 20 points.

Wizards 116, 76ers 101

WASHINGTON — Andray Blatche reached his career high at the first-half buzzer, holding both hands aloft long after he swished his baseline 3-pointer. With Gilbert Arenas sidelined again with a sore knee, Blatche and DeShawn Stevenson more than compensated for Agent Zero’s absence. Blatche scored 26 points, Stevenson had a season-high 19 and the Washington Wizards completed a lose-five, win-five start to the season with a 116-101 rout of the Philadelphia 76ers. Blatche’s previous best over two-plus seasons was 14 points, but he was at 16 after his 3 capped a 14-2 run and gave the Wizards a 60-44 lead at the half. Blatche went 12-for-14 from the field, had eight rebounds, matched his career high with four assists and flashed a sheepish grin when his accomplishments were touted on the huge scoreboard. Stevenson, who entered the game shooting 29 percent, finished 7-for-11 from the field. He made three 3-pointers, one fewer than he had previously made all season, including back-to-back 3s in the run at the end of the first half. Antawn Jamison added 19 points and seven rebounds for the Wizards, who shot 57 percent and had 29 assists, both season highs.
