Youngstown school board member charged with assault


YOUNGSTOWN — A Youngstown school board member, who is also an employee of the city’s Wastewater Treatment Plant has been charged with assault. Dominic G. Modarelli, 36, of DeCamp Road is accused of beating up his 36-year-old live-in girlfriend at their home on Nov. 11. The woman said he “lost it” and started choking and punching her in the head and face. Police described her injuries in a report. Modarelli is free on $2,500 bond and is scheduled for a pretrial hearing on Jan. 7 in municipal court. If convicted, he faces up to six months in jail and $1,000 fine.
