Some St. Vincent De Paul Society funds missing

YOUNGSTOWN — “Irregularities and discrepancies” were found in the financial records of the Youngstown District Council of the St. Vincent De Paul Society and the person suspected of wrongdoing has been suspended while police investigate, according to a press release from the council. Fred Pisani, president of the council, said he wants to assure the community that pantry and dining hall services will not be interrupted during the investigation. Brian R. Corbin, executive director of Catholic Charities Services, is acting as executive director of the council to manage its daily operations. Corbin declined to name the person suspended or how much money is missing. He said a news conference would be held Wednesday to assure everyone that the St. Vincent De Paul Society is working with authorities and moving ahead.
