Highway patrol kicks off holiday safety campaign

The Ohio State Highway Patrol Canfield Post, to kick off a Buckle Up For A Safe Holiday Season Campaign, will be handing out vehicle litter bags that contain educational pamphlets and children’s’ items such as coloring books, crayons, candy and kids’ meal vouchers for Chilli’s Restaurant in Boardman. The giveaway begins today and runs through Dec. 21 or until supplies run out. The patrol is asking that those who pick up litter bags at the post, 500 S. Broad St., donate one nonperishable food item to be given to a local charity at the end of the campaign. The donation is not required. A suggestion clipboard will be available so that motorists can let the patrol know where dangerous roadways or intersections are and recommend changes to existing traffic patterns.
