Gantt arraigned, bond set at $250,000

YOUNGSTOWN — The man accused of shooting an off-duty city firefighter was arraigned today in municipal court.

Bond was set at $250,000 for Stefin Gantt, 20, of Garden Street N.W., Warren, who is charged with felonious assault. Magistrate Anthony Sertick Jr. ordered that Gantt be placed on electronically monitored house arrest if he is able to post bond. A preliminary hearing was set for Nov. 26.

The firefighter, Andre “Dre” Johnson, 26, of North Fruit Street, is recovering at St. Elizabeth Health Center. He was shot at home last Wednesday. Gantt lost part of his right ear and was shot in the left forearm. A sizable amount of marijuana was found in the house Johnson shares with another man.
