Lawrence County budget

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — There is no tax increase expected when Lawrence County commissioners introduce the 2008 budget Nov. 29. County Administrator Jim Gagliano said there are no major changes in the coming year’s budget. The general fund budget for this year was $23 million. Expenditures in the general fund are likely to increase by about $500,000 next year, he said. Gagliano said the county expects to take out a smaller loan this year as a tax anticipation note — a loan taken out to cover expenses until taxes start coming in. He said the commissioners plan to borrow $2.5 million in 2008. In 2007, they borrowed $3.2 million and the previous year it was $6.1 million.

A summation of the policy is available at township offices.
