TIPS FOR PARENTS Conference advice

Local educators offer the following tips for parents preparing to visit their child’s school for parent-teacher conferences Tuesday:

Be prepared to ask questions about your child’s performance. Write those questions down in advance.

Raise any concerns you have about problem areas.

Feel comfortable. Be supportive of the teacher and your child.

Share information about your child at home that might affect school work.

Be positive and expect success for your child.

Don’t be confrontational. The comments and advice are designed to help your child achieve.

Be aware that you play an important role in your child’s desire to succeed.

Ask about things you can do at home to help your child learn.

Check the Ohio Department of Education and National PTA Web sites for tips on what to look for at conferences and how to help your child.
