OSU VS. MICHIGAN

A look back

Since the early 20th century, a big rivalry has existed between the two teams, with their first meeting being more than 100 years ago. A brief history of the Buckeyes and Wolverines:

Played their first game against each other in 1897, in which the University of Michigan won, 34-0.

Michigan dominated the series until 1919, when Ohio State won, 13-3. Michigan leads the overall series 57-41-6.

The Buckeyes, under coach Jim Tressel, have beaten Michigan the past four years.

Since 1935, the tradition has been established of having the matchup be the last game of the season for both teams.

The first game between both teams at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Mich., was in 1927.
