Sick racoon shot by police

YOUNGSTOWN — A large raccoon seen running in circles and snarling at the intersection of Superior Street and Oakland Avenue on the North Side was shot and killed by a police officer around 12:15 p.m. Thursday. The officer said the animal, possibly rabid, charged her as she got out of her cruiser and she fired two shots from her gun. The raccoon sat down but was still alive. The officer then used a shotgun to kill the animal.
