IRS: $2 million in refunds not cashed in Ohio
CINCINNATI (AP) — The IRS may be looking for you — and in a good way.
The tax agency says it owes $2 million in refunds to nearly 2,800 Ohioans, but in most cases it can’t find them because they moved and didn’t leave forwarding information.
Nationwide, more than $110 million in tax refund checks have gone uncashed this year for the same reason.
IRS spokesman Chris Kerns in Cincinnati says don’t miss out on getting your money back. Wayward refunds can be claimed as soon as taxpayers update their addresses with the IRS.
If you suspect you may have a refund coming, the IRS says you can check by using the “Where’s My Refund?” link on its home page, www.irs.gov
