Lariccia family gives $200,000 to renovate community center

The philanthropist has given to several Boardman Park projects.

BOARDMAN — Tony Lariccia just keeps on giving.

Earlier this month, Lariccia, a township resident and businessman, presented a $200,000 check to the board of park commissioners of Boardman Township Park District, requesting that the money be used toward renovations of the Boardman Park Community Center.

“The Lariccia family are wonderful supporters of our community,” said Dan Slagle, park director, in accepting the donation. “They care deeply about and most generously support a diversity of community projects and organizations, thereby enhancing the quality of life throughout our community.”

He said the check will be used to facilitate the park district’s master plan which calls for the continued development and improvement of the facilities of the park district, for the benefit of the citizens of Boardman.

Lariccia has been one of the most active contributors to Boardman Park. In addition to this donation, he made a substantial contribution to the construction of the Lariccia Family Bocce Pavilion, which opened earlier this year, and provided major financial support for renovations to St. James Meeting House, Boardman’s most prominent historical landmark.

The renovation of the community center is still in the planning stages. It is expected that an announcement regarding construction plans will come early next year.
