City police investigate bruises on 6-year-old
YOUNGSTOWN — An investigation launched after school officials took an interest in bruises seen on a 6-year-old boy at Taft Elementary School led back to the boy’s mother, who witnesses told police hit him with a belt because he took a bag of cheese snacks from an older sister.
Photos of bruises on the boy’s arms, chest, back and face were taken Monday at the school.
Police learned that Mahoning County Children Services already has an open case on the boy’s mother. The report of the child’s injuries was turned over to the police department’s juvenile division.
