FELICITATIONS BEFORE THE BATTLE: Yes, that’s the introductory phrase of the caption beneath this photo in the Nov. 13, 1932, Vindicator, part of the coverage of the Chaney-Rayen football game, which was won by Chaney, 7-6. As was the custom of the day, especially in sports photos, the participants were identified only by title and last name, from left, Coach Lansing and Captain Birkholtz of Rayen and Captain Morrison and Coach McPhee of Chaney.
