TURKEY DINNERS When and where
Churches and other groups in the area are offering free community Thanksgiving dinners before or on the holiday Nov. 22.
First Presbyterian Church, 201 Wick Ave., Youngstown: The 27th annual Thanksgiving dinner is set from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday. A full-course turkey dinner, with all the trimmings, will be served. Music will be featured in the sanctuary as participants are waiting. The church is offering the dinner especially to those who are unemployed, on fixed incomes, the needy, homeless and families with young children.
Price Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Church, 920 Dryden Ave., Youngstown: A traditional Thanksgiving dinner with the trimmings will be offered from noon to 2 p.m. Friday by the church’s food ministry. The event is for community residents and those in need. Food is provided by Second Harvest Food Bank and Federal Emergency Management Agency.
McGuffey Road Church of Christ, 1101 Miami Ave., Youngstown: A community Thanksgiving dinner is planned from 2-4 p.m. Saturday. If you need transportation, call (330) 746-4409. Hats and gloves will be distributed to children in attendance.
Highway Tabernacle Church, 3000 S. Raccoon Road, Youngstown: A community Thanksgiving dinner is planned from 6-8 p.m. Nov. 21. To reserve a seat, call the church at (330) 792-3000 by Nov. 19.
Salvation Army, 1501 Glenwood Ave., Youngstown: A turkey dinner with all the trimmings will be offered from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 21.
Warren Family Mission, 361 Elm Road, Warren: A traditional turkey dinner is scheduled from noon to 3 p.m. Nov. 21.
Salem: A free dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thanksgiving Day at the Memorial Building, 785 E. State St., Salem. The meal is open to all who have nowhere to go for the holiday. Transportation to the Memorial Building and delivery to homes also are available to those who make requests before Thanksgiving Day. Contact (330) 337-3728 for information, a ride or delivery.
