to reopen in Boardman
BOARDMAN — Margaret and Ken Jones of Boardman have reopened Play It Again Sports, 813 Boardman-Poland Road. The previous franchisee had closed the store earlier this year. The store offers new and used sports equipment and also allows customers to sell equipment for cash or trade. Play It Again Sports has more than 400 franchised locations in the U.S. and Canada. The franchising company is Winmark Corp., which is based in Minneapolis.

Life-Time Fenders
CANFIELD — Life-Time Fenders of Canfield recently was bought by Betts Spring Co. of San Leandro, Calif. Life-Time, which employs 10, makes metal and plastic fenders for heavy-duty trucks. Betts said the local company’s products complement its line of mud flap hangers. “We provide products for the back of the tire, and Life-Time provides products for the front of the tire,” said Marcus Shiveley, a spokesman for Betts Spring. Shirley Freed, Life-Time president, said the sale allows the company’s employees to continue growing the business.
Philanthropist fund
extends application date
YOUNGSTOWN — The Young Philanthropist Fund has extended its deadline for grant applications until Nov. 26. The Young Philanthropist Fund Board will grant awards to any nonprofit organization with a youth-oriented program in the Mahoning Valley. Special consideration is given to programs promoting the practice of philanthropy to youths. The total of $2,500 will be awarded. Applications are available from the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley’s at www.cfmv.org.
Consignment store
to open in Hermitage
HERMITAGE, Pa. — Snootie Patootie, a maternity and children’s consignment store, will open Tuesday at 1883 East State St. The store accepts clean and stained-free clothing, furniture without scratches and dents, toys, books, movies and baby equipment, excluding car seats, stuffed animals, bottles, pacifiers and utensils. The owners are Sarah Litman and Kami Dubiel.
New day-care center
opens in East Palestine
EAST PALESTINE — Beth Davis has opened Peace Valley Adult Daycare Center, 2978 Bacon Ave. An open house will be from noon to 8 p.m. Dec. 1 and noon to 6 p.m. Dec. 2. Peace Valley offers a homelike environment, activities and cooked meals. Services include games, group interaction, parties, music, movies and arts and crafts.

YOUNGSTOWN — Meridian Services is accepting applications from members of the community for seats on its board of directors. The 35-year-old nonprofit organization offers programs and services to individuals and families. These programs include alcohol and other drug treatment and prevention, housing and employee assistance programming.
