Austintown police officer seriously injured in crash

AUSTINTOWN — An Austintown police officer was seriously injured early this morning in a crash on North Meridian Road.

Officer Ross J. Linert, a 12-year veteran of the force, was taken to the Akron Children’s Hospital Burn Unit, where he was reported in critical condition today.

The crash occurred at 1:08 a.m. today, police said. The driver of the other vehicle, Adrien N. Foutz, 22, of Girard, faces several charges, according to police.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
