Shenango charity ball to raise funds for THON to fight pediatric cancer
SHARON, Pa. — The Penn State Shenango Annual THON Charity Ball will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Chestnut Street Cafe.
The event is a fundraiser for Penn State Shenango students who will be participating in THON, the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon which raises money to fight pediatric cancer, in State College, Pa., next Feb. 22-24.
Tickets for the Charity Ball are $20 and include a buffet-style dinner and music. Half of the ticket cost is tax deductible, benefiting children with cancer. Tickets may be purchased at the Penn State Student Affairs Office in Sharon in Room 103, 147 Shenango Ave., or by contacting jma278@psu.edu.
THON is billed as the largest student-run philanthropy in the world. It’s been an annual event at Penn State for 35 years and has raised $46 million over that time period. It raised $5.2 million last year alone.
Hundreds of Penn State students and thousands of supporters will converge on the Bryce Jordan Center at Penn State’s main campus in State College for the 2008 event.
Proceeds benefit the Four Diamonds Fund, Conquering Childhood Cancer, at Penn State’s Children’s Hospital in Hershey, Pa.
