YOUNGSTOWN — National College, which opened a campus at 3487 Belmont Ave., this fall, will hold an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, offering tours of its campus and information on programs it offers. The college has 162 students enrolled and has a capacity of about 600. It offers both day and evening classes leading to associate degrees in Administrative Office Professional, Business Administration-Accounting, Business Administration-Management, Computer Application Technology, Health Information Technology, Information Systems Engineering, Medical Assisting, Pharmacy Technology and Surgical Technology. Ursuline placement test
YOUNGSTOWN — Ursuline High School will administer its placement test for all incoming freshmen from 9:30 a.m. to noon Dec. 1 in the school cafeteria, 750 Wick Ave. Students should bring two No. 2 pencils. Parents must call the school office at (330) 744-4563 to register their child for the test. Placement in honors courses is based upon successful completion of the entrance exam. Certain academic scholarships are also based on this test.
Mooney placement test
YOUNGSTOWN — Cardinal Mooney High School, 2545 Erie St., will be administering a high school placement test for prospective 2008-09 freshmen at 8:45 a.m. next Saturday. The test will conclude at 11:45 a.m. Students should bring several No. 2 sharpened pencils, a calculator and their Social Security number with them. Students should use the back entrance of the school (cafeteria entrance). There is no charge for the test and results of the tests will be furnished to parents. For reservations, call 330-788-5007.
Started support group
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Graduate students in Slippery Rock University’s addiction counseling program have launched a 12-step Narcotics Anonymous support group. “It’s a Brand New Day” provides free and confidential group meetings to those struggling with addiction. The sessions are open to Slippery Rock students, staff, faculty and community members who are in recovery as well as those who wish to attend to support a roommate, friend or significant other. The group meets from 9 to 10:30 p.m. on Thursdays at the university’s Counseling and Development Building, 113 E. Cooper St. For information, call (724) 813-2987.

YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown City School District will hold parent-teacher conferences in all schools for all grade levels from 3:30 to 9 p.m. Nov. 20. Appointments aren’t required.
