Body found on city’s East Side, cops investigating

YOUNGSTOWN — City police are investigating what appears to the be the city’s latest homicide.

According to police, a man in the 1300 block of Atkinson heard gunfire just before 10:45 p.m. tonight. A family member asked the man to go and investigate the noise. The man said he saw a body lying in the grass about two houses down. Police did not have an exact address.

Police arrived on the scene and determined the man was dead. His name has not been released.
