Robber gets 10-year term

YOUNGSTOWN — A 10-year prison term has been imposed on the last of five defendants in a robbery, in which an East Side convenience store owner was shot in the mouth 3 1/2 years ago.

Judge R. Scott Krichbaum of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court imposed the sentence this morning on Isael Roman III, 20, of Rosewood Lane. Roman had pleaded guilty as charged Monday to attempted aggravated murder, aggravated robbery and kidnapping with a firearm specification.

The non-appealable sentence, which was recommended by the prosecution and defense, consists of seven years for each charge to be served concurrently, plus three consecutive years for the gun specification. Roman, who apologized in court, will get credit for 1,329 days he has already been jailed in the March 30, 2004, robbery at the Big Apple Market on McGuffey Road.
