Fire at vacant Hilton Ave. house

YOUNGSTOWN — The front door was open and fire visible at 50 Hilton Ave. when crews arrived just before 9 p.m. Tuesday at the vacant South Side house. Ohio Edison was called to the scene to sever an energized line that burned off the structure. Damage was set at $17,000 to the property and contents. Neighbors told the battalion chief that this is the address where a Vindicator carrier encountered trouble last month. Two teenagers at the house followed the carrier down the street and one shot him in the arm during a robbery. Both were arrested.
