Chear Channel lays off 3 from radio stations

BOARDMAN — Clear Channel laid off three employees from its area radio stations, including afternoon talk host Casey Malone.

The staff reductions were made Tuesday because of budget cuts, said Bill Kelly, Clear Channel general manager. He declined to be more specific.

Also laid off were Jerry Goddard, mid-day host at WBBG, and an engineer who serves multiple stations.

Kelly said the duties of the laid-off workers would be taken over by other employees.

He declined to say, however, whether someone would replace Malone on the Ron & Casey show on WKBN-AM. The other host on the show is Ron Verb.

Clear Channel is based in San Antonio, Texas, and operates 1,100 radio stations nationwide. Locally, it has about 70 full- and part-time employees at and owns WKBN-AM, WNIO, WAKZ, WBBG, WMXY and WNCD.
