Canfield man faces fourth OVI arrest
AUSTINTOWN — A man is facing a felony charge of operating a vehicle while impaired after his fourth OVI arrest.
William J. Patrick, 29, of West Calla Road in Canfield had three previous convictions in six years, a police report says.
An employee of the BP station at Mahoning Avenue and Route 46 called police at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to report a car hung up on a curb facing the McDonald’s parking lot, with the driver trying to rock it back and forth to get it free.
Police said Patrick couldn’t explain what happened, his speech was slurred and he had to be helped out of the car.
There was a bag full of empty beer cans on the front passenger seat, the report said. He refused field sobriety tests, it said.
He was charged with OVI and also with driving with a suspended license. Police released him to a relative.
He appeared in Mahoning County Court here today for arraignment, and was given a pretrial date of Dec. 10.
