Salem elects Wolford as mayor

Mayor-elect Jerry Wolford said that officials have to work together to solve the city’s problems.

The Republican beat Democrat Councilman Clyde Brown in what many predicted would be a close race.

Wolford said that as mayor he will try to be a facilitator while working with council.

The city has a tight budget and a growing drug problem among other problems.

“It’s a team effort,” Wolford said.

Wolford, a Perry Township Trustee, said he also wants to work with the township.
