Panel to discuss Mideast peace after dinner


LIBERTY — The Youngstown chapter of the United Nations Association will have a dinner and program Thursday at the Arab American Community Center, 15 Belgrade Ave. Dinner will be at 6 p.m. and the program at 7.

“Prospects for Peace in the Middle East — Palestine and Israel” will be the topic of panel discussion. Participants will be Chaia Beckerman, a free-lance editor, who has Israeli and U.S. citizenship,and founder of Israelis by Choice/Olim Opposing Occupation; Jabr Elwanni, president of Greater Mahoning Valley Grocers’ Association; Gabriel Palmer-Fernandez, a professor of philosophy and director of the Dr. James Dale Center for Applied Ethics at Youngstown State University; Bruce Lev, president of the Home Builders Association of the Mahoning Valley and a conservationist; and Staughton Lynd, retired lawyer, and author and local education coordinator for Teamster Local 377 of Youngstown.
