Austintown teachers get contract proposal

AUSTINTOWN — Negotiations this month have resulted in a contract proposal for teachers in the Austintown Local School District.

The district and the Austintown Education Association, which have been meeting since mid-May, met Nov. 1 for a second session with a federal mediator.

Schools Superintendent Doug Heuer said the mediator helped both sides reach what he believes is a fair proposal.

He said the district and the union will not give specific details about the proposal until the union has had a chance to review it.
