“Nova: Sputnik Declassified” (8 p.m., PBS): In October 1957, Sputnik I, an artificial satellite launched by the Soviet Union, became the first vehicle in the space race. Its presence seemed to catch U.S. leaders off guard, but this new program, using formerly classified material, challenges the notion that then-President Eisenhower did not recognize the importance of outer space.

“Lincoln Heights” (8 p.m., ABC Family): In the Season 2 finale, Eddie tries to protect Tay, who is threatened by a gang member.
