BOARDMAN — Independent bakery cooperative, The Long Co., awarded Schwebel Baking Co. with its Best Premium Bun Gold Cup Annual Trophy for the second year in a row. More than 70 wholesale bakeries sent samples for scoring. Samples were rated on qualities such as crust thickness and color, interior grain and uniformity of cell structure, flavor, aroma and general eating qualities.

BOARDMAN — The Holiday Inn - Boardman received two awards from the Intercontinental Hotel Group at its Annual Leaders & Investors Conference. The hotel received a 2007 Quality Excellence Award, given to hotels achieving distinction in all aspects of their operations. The hotel also received a Renovation Award and was one of only 50 hotels in the system to be honored in that area. Holiday Inn - Boardman’s renovations included TJ’s Restaurant & Lounge, exercise room, business center, hotel lobby and public restrooms. New bedding and a conversion from wired to wireless are also recent developments at the hotel.

AUSTINTOWN — Carney-McNicholas, an agent of United Van Lines, has been honored by United for exceptional professional achievement. Carney-McNicholas Inc. received the President’s Club Award for having $3 million in sales and the Customer Choice Award for providing exceptional service.

NEW CASTLE, PA. — Stevens Masonry Construction of New Castle is a 2007 winner of the coveted Golden Trowel award for its work on the $50 million New Castle High School project. Stevens won Golden Trowel best-in-category of educational facilities for interior work. The Golden Trowel awards are sponsored by the International Masonry Institute.

BOARDMAN — In honor of their career achievements, Kathy Cottrill and Betty McKendry, both of Boardman, have earned the use of the executive Mary Kay Pink Cadillac, the most coveted incentive awarded by the company. About 6,500 Mary Kay career cars are on the road nationwide with more than 1,800 of those being pink Cadillacs. Independent sales directors earn the use of Mary Kay career cars through outstanding sales achievements by themselves and their units.
