Information about the company that wants to build a storage facility and grain elevator on 25 acres along Auction Road in Wilmington Township.

Deerfield Farms has been in this area since 2003, leasing property at 3992 Pa. Route 208, about a mile from the proposed new facility.

The business was founded in the early 1970s by Boyd and Jean Wallbrown Jr. in Deerfield, Ohio.

It also operates farms in Portage, Mahoning, Stark and Columbiana counties which raise corn, soybeans and wheat.

Once the new site is built, the 11 employees of the business would move to the new facility. No new hiring is anticipated for the near future in the new location.

The business offers agronomy services, custom application of fertilizer, crop protection products and lime to farmers’ fields, grain drying, storage and handling and sells fertilizer and seed, feeding equipment and supplies.
