“The Simpsons” (8 p.m., Fox): Halloween may be over, but the treats keep coming as “The Simpsons” serve up their 18th “Treehouse of Horror” special. The stories this year include a spoof of Brangelina’s “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” film and a takeoff on “E.T.,” complete with an alien named Kodo.

“The Amazing Race 12” (8 p.m., CBS): Eleven teams are competing for the grand prize.

“Family Guy” (9 p.m., Fox): Only a couple of years ago, “Family Guy” had a slim chance of reaching its 100th episode. The animated comedy, which debuted in 1999, has been canceled twice. The first time was following the second season, and because of that, the show didn’t air a new episode for a year. The second time was between the third and fourth seasons, from 2002 to 2005. But once previously aired episodes were released on DVD and then began running on the Cartoon Network, TV executives sat up and noticed. DVD sales were huge. A few of the Cartoon Network airings drew bigger ratings than when the episodes originally appeared on Fox. An online petition with more than 111,000 names on it argued to save the show. So Fox revived “Family Guy” again. Now rejuvenated, “Family Guy” is one of the Fox network’s crown jewels. It’s also a hit for the Cartoon Network, TBS and in syndication. No end is in sight for it these days. Tonight’s milestone episode, entitled “Stewie Kills Lois,” signifies one of primetime’s biggest comeback stories. A retrospective from the past 99 episodes will also precede the episode at 8:30 p.m.
