Sentence reduced from 100 to 90 years

YOUNGSTOWN — Judge R. Scott Krichbaum reduced a rapist’s sentence from 100 to 90 years in prison in a Friday resentencing.

The Mahoning County common pleas judge took the action in the case of William G. Haschenburger, 49, of Fincastle Lane, after the 7th District Court of Appeals ruled evidence was insufficient to support conviction on one of the 10 rape counts Haschenburger was found guilty of by a jury in October 2005.

On Friday, Haschenburger, a Trumbull Correctional Institution inmate, got the 10-year maximum sentence for each of nine counts alleging he raped a girl between 2000 and 2002, while she was between the ages of 14 and 16.

The judge ordered the prison terms served consecutively.
