Executive director will retire from YMHA
YOUNGSTOWN — After more than seven years as its executive director of the Youngstown Metropolitan Housing Authority, Eugenia C. Atkinson will retire, effective Nov. 30.
Atkinson, the wife of city Councilman Richard Atkinson, has worked for the authority for about 23 years, having started as the administrative assistant to the executive director.
The authority will begin a national search for her replacement shortly.
The authority’s board established a committee to conduct the search with YMHA Commissioner Brian Corbin serving as its chairman and Atty. Ted Roberts as its adviser.
The board named Atty. Michael J. Krause as interim executive director to replace Atkinson when she leaves the authority. Krause is the authority’s deputy executive director and general counsel.
The authority has 1,555 public housing units for low- and moderate-income families in Mahoning County.
